Only two Nigerians have made it into the shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d’Or nominations released on Thursday.
The names are Super Falcons’ goalkeeper Nnadozie Chiamaka and the team’s coach, Justine Madugu.
Chiamaka, who recently transferred from Paris FC to Brighton, has been listed as a contender for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy.
The 24-year-old will be competing for the honor alongside Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Hannah Hampton, and Daphne van Domselaar.
Madugu, who guided the national team to a historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title last month, has been shortlisted for Women’s Team Coach of the Year.
He is the sole male nominee in the category and will be competing against Renée Slegers, Sarina Wiegman, Sonia Bompastor, and Arthur Elias.
Meanwhile, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman stands as the only Nigerian featured across all award categories.
