Ballon d’Or: ‘He’s already ahead of everyone’ – Sagna names player to win award

Bacary Sagna, an ex-Arsenal player, is assured that Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid will secure the Ballon d’Or this year.

Sagna praised the personal display of his fellow countryman, stating that the only thing that could stop him from succeeding is a poor showing at the FIFA World Cup.

Sagna expressed to Goal his belief that Mbappe will take home this year’s Ballon d’Or.

He believes that no other player has matched the Frenchman’s performance this season and that his strong form will carry into next summer’s World Cup.

He said, “He will win it. I believe this is the right time for him to win it this year. I believe the World Cup will be a great event with the French national team participating.

“I believe he will do well in the Champions League with Real Madrid. On a personal level, he is already in a good position because he is doing well and is in first place.

“Unless he has a really bad World Cup, which I don’t think will happen, I believe he will win the Ballon d’Or this year.”

This season, Mbappe has performed excellently, netting a total of 38 goals for both his national team and club.

This season, he has netted 11 goals in the UEFA Champions League and is only one goal shy of breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most goals in the group stage.
