French football analyst Walid Acherchour has identified Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as a player expected to attract a significant share of votes in the 2026 Ballon d’Or race.
Acherchour expressed confidence that the Spanish international has a genuine chance of claiming the prestigious individual honour based on the level of performance he has consistently delivered for both club and country.
Yamal enjoyed a remarkable campaign, helping Spain lift the FIFA World Cup while also playing a key role in Barcelona’s successful LaLiga title-winning season.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the leading contenders for the Ballon d’Or and is widely expected to battle England forward Harry Kane, France star Kylian Mbappe and several other top players for the coveted award.
“Lamine Yamal could receive a huge number of Ballon d’Or votes,” Acherchour said as quoted by Footballtweet on X via (After Foot RMC).
“The consistency Lamine Yamal has shown, combined with winning La Liga, putting up even better numbers than last season, and then going on to win the World Cup… I think…
“Lamine Yamal should receive a huge number of Ballon d’Or votes.”
