BallyLINAN singer-songwriter Oliver Berry presented a check for €10,000 to the Jack and Jill Foundation last week, following the successful release of his Christmas single, “An Irish Christmas.”. The single was written and performed by Oliver, with backing vocals from his sister Linda, Carrie Haskins, and instrumental accompaniment from Seamus O’Halloran on guitar and Noel Donovan on banjo.
The song was recorded in Joe Cleere’s studios, and an online fundraising campaign was set up on iDonate, which raised the impressive sum of €10,000 by January 26. Oliver was motivated to support the Jack and Jill Foundation because of its vital work with children and families in need. “I knew a few families around where I live that have been assisted by Jack and Jill. It’s also a charity for children, and Christmastime is all about children,” Oliver explained.
Accompanied by his sister Linda, Oliver visited the Jack and Jill Foundation’s headquarters in Johnstown, Co. Kildare, where they handed over the check to fundraising executives Michaela Foley and Danielle Ryan. Ms. Foley expressed her gratitude, saying, “It is amazing. Well done to Oliver and all involved. What a great achievement!
Oliver humbly acknowledged the role of others in the fundraising effort, stating, “It’s the people who made this happen. We had donations from individuals, family, friends, companies, and people from England, Scotland, Wales, America, Canada, and Australia. The amount of support was amazing. Thank you all so much.”
With this successful fundraising campaign behind him, Oliver is now preparing to return to the studio to record his third single. His previous releases, including “You are my life,” have been well-received and have garnered significant airtime.
