Suspected bandits have kidnapped a prominent traditional figure, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammadu Bello, following a violent assault on Karaduwa village, located in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, noting that the assailants arrived around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, riding motorcycles as they launched the attack.
The armed group allegedly broke into the residence of the 60-year-old, who is the Wakilin Hakimin Matazu, and forcibly took him to an undisclosed location.
The attack prompted an immediate reaction from security personnel, with the Divisional Police Officer of Matazu leading a unit, supported by Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), to the village in an attempt to catch the perpetrators and rescue the captive.
Unfortunately, by the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, the kidnappers had already escaped.
Police officials confirmed that search and surveillance operations have been intensified, and tracking efforts are underway to locate the abductors and ensure the traditional leader’s safe release.
Authorities have urged residents of Karaduwa and nearby villages to stay alert and to promptly inform security forces about any unusual or suspicious behavior.
