ZINGTIE has learned that some gunmen, believed to be bandits, have taken the life of a Nigeria Police Force inspector in Oyo State.
When the suspected bandits ambushed a police patrol team, the inspector was killed.
On Saturday at approximately 1:30 p.m., the incident took place at the Budo Masalasi border post.
A police officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, was reported by our correspondent to have died from injuries sustained in the ambush.
Other individuals also suffered injuries of varying severity during the assault.
When contacted on Sunday, Olayinka Ayanlade, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, confirmed the incident.
Ayanlade mentioned that the police commissioner has commanded an inquiry into the event and noted that law enforcement is presently pursuing the trail of the suspects.
The Oyo police spokesman urged residents to notify the nearest police station of any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
He said, “Yes, there was an attack on police operatives during which an inspector, while courageously repelling the attack, paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
“Residents are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and report any individuals with gunshot injuries, those seeking medical attention under suspicious circumstances, or persons exhibiting suspicious behavior to the nearest police station or security agency.”
