In Idadu community, in the Agbashi Development Area of Doma Local Government, Nasarawa State, suspected Fulani bandits fatally ambushed three security personnel, including a police officer and two vigilante members.
On Wednesday night, while on a regular patrol along the Doma–Idadu Road, the agents were abruptly attacked by highly armed terrorists who began fire on their patrol team.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fired at their targets without warning or any kind of conflict in a coordinated “commando-style” manner.
The two vigilante members were a part of a local joint security task team that was fighting an increase in bandit activity in the area, while the deceased officer was reportedly affiliated with the Agbashi Police Division.
Concerns about the growing instability in the southern region of the state are raised by this most recent attack, which occurred just one week after seven people were slain in a similar wave of violence among towns in Keana and Doma Local Government Areas.
Residents claim that no arrests have been made in relation to the recent killings, despite the state government’s repeated claims that security measures had been stepped up.
Due to worries of fresh assaults, many towns in the vicinity have now been abandoned as residents have fled to safer locations.
