The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos has renamed the well-known Charly Boy Bus Stop in honor of indigenous rapper and music executive, Olamide.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Kolade Alabi David, during the commissioning of various infrastructure projects within the area on Friday.

He explained that with Ajidagan Street now officially renamed Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street, the adjoining Charly Boy Bus Stop will also be known going forward as Baddo Bus Stop.

“Ajidagan Street will now be called Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street. That means Charly Boy bus stop will now be called Baddo Bus-Stop, no more Charly Boy,” he said.

The former name of the bus stop honored entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy.

As part of the renaming initiative, the LCDA has also renamed Ilaje Road after Juju music legend Sunny Ade and Ifeanyi Street after music star 9ice, known for the hit track Gongo Aso.

Other renamed roads include:

  • Community Road, Akoka, now Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road
  • Bariga Road, now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road
  • Ayodele Street, now Tony Tetuila Street
