Bauchi University Trains 46 Lecturers on Research and Grant Application

Sa’adu Zungur University in Bauchi State has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting impactful research that addresses the needs of Nigerian communities. The university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Bala Ma’aji, emphasised the importance of research in driving development during a 3-day training on research for impact and grant writing for academic staff.

Tahir stated, “The training, organised by the Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation, aims to equip staff with the necessary skills to design and implement impactful research projects that can secure funding and drive positive change in the community.”

She added, “The university recognises the potential of research to address the numerous challenges facing Nigeria, particularly in the Northeast.” Tahir emphasized that the university is committed to conducting research that is relevant, impactful, and beneficial to the community

The vice chancellor also highlighted the importance of grant writing skills, urging participants to take advantage of the training to enhance their skills and knowledge. “The university is committed to conducting research that is relevant, impactful, and beneficial to the community,” she said.

The Director of the Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation, Dr. Usman Waziri, explained that the training is part of the university’s efforts to promote a culture of research excellence and innovation. He said, “The training would enable participants to develop competitive research proposals and secure funding for their projects.”

The training, which has 46 academic staff participants from various faculties and departments, is expected to positively impact the university’s research output and community engagement.
