Twelve minors were saved by the Alia Generation Youth’s Wurukum Team during a midnight security operation under the New Bridge in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
The children living in hazardous conditions were discovered during the operation, which began at approximately 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. According to authorities, if the kids weren’t taken away right away, they would be extremely susceptible to being exploited by criminal groups and would eventually become involved in banditry and other social vices.
The children came from a number of local government districts, including Vandeikya, Konshisha, Guma, Gboko, Agatu, and Makurdi, according to preliminary profiling.
The State Leader of the Alia Generation Youth, Comr. Akende Aondona Edmond, turned the kids over to Hon. Emmanuel Anumbe, the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Human Trafficking, in accordance with the direction of the Governor’s Internal Security Advisor, Hon. James Malu. After that, they were moved to the Ministry of Women Affairs for welfare assistance, rehabilitation, and thorough profiling.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Community Services, Hon. Sam Maga, spoke on the scene and commended the staff for their attentiveness. In order to guarantee that the Alia Generation Youth receive sufficient assistance for their endeavors to advance security and child safety throughout the state, he promised to involve higher authorities.
The group restated its dedication to working with government organizations to promote rehabilitation programs in Benue, improve internal security, and protect children who are at risk.
