Benue: Again armed herdsmen renew attack on Yelewata community

A farmer was killed in a new attack by armed herdsmen on Tuesday in the Yelewata hamlet in Nyiev Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area, Benue State.

On his way to his yam farm, which is less than a mile from the town square, the deceased, Hemen Ayua Jonyi, was reportedly viciously slashed to death with a machete.

The attack on Tuesday is part of another round of unrest in Yelewata.

Less than three months before, suspected herders butchered more than 200 villagers in the same community, and two weeks prior, a similar raid killed three locals and injured three more.
