Four individuals, including a prominent church figure, have lost their lives in a recent armed assault in Benue State.
This development was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the state governor on Homeland Security, retired Air Commodore Jacob Gbamwuan.
Among those killed were Vitalis Kenvanger, a leader at St. Albert Catholic Church in Abata, Yogbo, and a local businessman known as Dogo Udam.
According to a source who requested anonymity, two of the victims were ambushed by gunmen at Gyungu Azer, along the route from Udei to Yogbo.
Their bodies were later discovered at the location of the attack. Two other individuals traveling with them—Mr. Iorember Famja and Mama Shiaondo, wife of Ioryem Ike—initially went missing.
Shiaondo was eventually freed by her captors, but the whereabouts of Mr. Famja remain unknown.
Family members of the missing man expressed uncertainty about whether he had been abducted or killed.
Despite an extensive search operation involving local vigilante groups and security agencies, he has not been located.
Although the victim’s phone was answered when called, no ransom request was made, intensifying suspicions that he may have been murdered.
A relative of the slain church leader, Boniface Igboji, stated: “I spoke with my brother yesterday when we were in Daudu but didn’t know he would depart this earth today through these murderous Fulani jihadists.”
