Nine individuals in connection with recent killings in Benue and Plateau States were arraigned by the Department of State Services, DSS, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.
Four charges were brought against two of the accused, Muhammad Abdullahi and Haruna Adamu, from Nasarawa State’s Awe Local Government Area, for their alleged involvement in the June 13, 2025, attacks on the villages of Abinsi and Yelewata in Guma LGA in Benue.
Terkende Ashuwa and Amos Alede, two more defendants from Guma LGA, are charged with three counts of alleged retaliatory attacks and property destruction, including the murder of twelve animals in Ukpam village.
Additionally, the DSS filed four charges against 32-year-old Halima Haliru Umar of Faskari LGA, Katsina State, for allegedly hiding information regarding Alhaji Sani, a suspected kidnapper and gunrunner.
In a another case, Agatu LGA, Benue State resident Silas Iduh Oloche was charged with six counts of illegally possessing eighteen guns, including grenades, in violation of the guns Act.
Timnan Manjo and Nanbol Tali, both 75, of Plateau State were also charged in court with selling two locally made AK-47 firearms for N3 million.
Danjuma Antu, 62, of Jos North LGA, Plateau State, was also charged with five counts of illegally possessing two handguns and nine millimeter bullets.
According to the DSS, the individuals were taken into custody in relation to illegal arms trafficking throughout the states and fatal assaults in Benue and Plateau.
