A fatal attack that took place in the Akpehe neighborhood of Makurdi, the state capital, on Sunday night has been confirmed by the Benue State Police Command.
Unknown gunmen reportedly targeted a well-known club close to the Okada Office in Akpehe at approximately 8:00 p.m., according to ZINGTIE.
Several diners were killed and numerous more were injured when the attackers, who were thought to be suspected cultists, opened fire on them.
Anene Sewuese Catherine, the public relations officer for the Benue State Police, confirmed the occurrence and blamed suspected cultists for the attack.
She revealed that the incident claimed the lives of four persons.
Catherine stated in an interview with ZINGTIE on Monday morning, “The suspected cult attack at Akpehe has been confirmed, and investigations have commenced. Four persons were confirmed dead, and others are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.”
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, warns hoodlums greeting him with crime to desist from such acts, as he will not tolerate crime under his watch.”
