The death of Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, the founder of Rapture Empowerment International in Osogbo, Osun State, has been verified by the Osun State Police Command.

While mediating a domestic conflict between two couples, Bishop Olaribigbe was stabbed, according to Yemisi Opalola, the Command spokesman.

She disclosed the husband’s suspicion that the pastor was cheating on his wife.

She said, “The couple were not living together, though they were not legally separated.

“The pastor had been intervening in their quarrels, and on this occasion, he was at the wife’s house when the estranged husband arrived.

“We were told that the husband stabbed the pastor multiple times, killing him.

“There is suspicion that the husband believed the pastor was having an affair with his wife.”

Meanwhile, ZINGTIE learnt that Bishop Olaribigbe was stabbed to death in the early hours of Thursday.

According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, the wife worked as an interpreter at Olaribigbe’s church, which is situated in the BCGA neighbourhood of Osogbo.

He claimed that while not being legally divorced, the pair had a history of regular arguments that caused them to live apart.

It was learnt that Olaribigbe, who had a reputation for stepping in to settle their arguments, had gone to see the wife, who had been unwell for a while.

The husband found the clergyman in the room when he arrived at the house early on Thursday morning, when the cleric was present.

“Enraged by the situation, the husband allegedly attacked Olaribigbe.

“A heated argument ensued, and in a fit of anger, the man took a knife and stabbed the pastor in the chest. Olaribigbe died on the spot,” the source who is close to the church said.

Nigeria Police, Dugbe Division, Osogbo, arrested and detained the couple after the stabbing incident.

Bishop Olaribigbe’s remains have been placed at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital’s (UNIOSUNTH) mortuary in Osogbo.
