Bode George, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees and an elder statesman, has supported his colleagues’ decision to recognise Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s real National Secretary.

According to ZINGTIE, Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu are feuding over the position of PDP National Secretary, with both men vying for it.

Following a meeting of the BoT on Wednesday, they requested the party’s National Working Committee to promptly swear in Ude-Okoye as the party’s substantive national secretary.

Speaking on Politics Today, a program on Channels Television on Friday, George said that the decision to back Ude-Okoye was based on the verdict of the Court of Appeal, which affirmed him as the authentic National Secreatary of PDP.

“So far, the facts that they brought, I am completely on board with that. What do you expect the elders to do? The report was clear that there was no counter Court of Appeal report apart from the one from Okoye.

“So, what do you expect us to do? If Anyanwu decides to go to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court throws out that decision of the of the Court of Appeal, we will abide by that,” George said.

He did, however, urge Anyanwu to relinquish power and allow peace to prevail so that the party could focus on its role as the opposition.

According to him, despite the PDP’s internal problems, the party is still more organised than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The elder statesman stated that he is not concerned about the PDP dissolving completely because he knows that the party’s taproot remains intact.
