Even when the pressure to “make it” quickly originates at home, it can occasionally lead people down dangerous and sinister paths.

Chuka, a 22-year-old boy, startled his entire Owerri street when he was seen attempting to perform a money ceremony using his own mother’s underwear and wrapper.

The most devastating aspect? His mother was the one who had been shouting at him for months to “stop embarrassing the family” and “become a man” like his buddies who drive Benz and construct houses.

A neighbor claims Chuka attempted to learn how to mend phones but gave up when his mother made fun of him, claiming she didn’t go through the trouble of raising him only to have a “common charger fixer.”

Chuka apparently met a native doctor through a friend who informed him he needed something very personal from a blood relative for the ritual to function swiftly. Desperate and bewildered, he crept into his mother’s bed one night and took her wrapper and underwear, planning to present it the next day.

Fortunately, an elderly neighbor became alarmed at 4 a.m. after noticing him acting strangely. Chuka sobbed and revealed everything when they confronted him. His mother immediately passed out.

The whole family is now in disarray. Once pushing her son with her words, the mother now blames herself for nearly losing him and her life to pressure and avarice.
