The Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria (BPAN) has launched a free healthcare package for Nigerian boxers under its welfare programme “BPAN-Care” in partnership with the New Ikeja Hospital. The partnership was formalised in Lagos with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between BPAN executives and officials of the New Ikeja Hospital.

According to the MOU, the New Ikeja Hospital will offer one free annual health check-up for 100 boxers, covering essential tests such as blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis B, and HIV. Additionally, the medical facility will provide a 15% discount on advanced medical tests, including MRI, ECG, and kidney function tests. The New Ikeja Hospital will also showcase its products and conduct activations at BPAN-organised events across the country.
Hamza Dantata, business development manager at New Ikeja Hospital, said, “This partnership is very important to us as an organisation because it involves touching the lives of young people. The Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity in its operations, and we believe that this collaboration will further enhance the development of boxing in Nigeria, especially in the area of healthcare.”
BPAN President, Hon. Omonlei Imadu, expressed delight at the partnership, saying, “This is what BPAN is truly about, creating an all-encompassing structure for the boxers. We would continue to prioritise the needs and interests of the athletes in our operations. Our partnership with New Ikeja Hospital further reaffirms our shared vision of providing adequate healthcare and medical support for Nigerian boxers.”
