The governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has formally switched to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The declaration came after a meeting held behind closed doors on Wednesday at Asaba’s Government House.
The decision was made following “wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development,” according to Sir Festus Ahon, the governor’s chief press secretary, who verified it.
Senior APC officials welcomed Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election on the PDP platform, in what political observers have already called a deliberate realignment with major ramifications in advance of the national elections in 2027.
Details will be provided soon.
