Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In Yenegoa, the state capital, thousands of supporters of the governor and his new party, the APC, from all eight local government areas attended the event wearing white t-shirts.

Along several of the state capital’s main streets, other supporters were observed drumming and signing.

After recently leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Diri officially ended rumors by joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

For the ceremony, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, and his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Ondo State Governor Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, and Regional Development Minister of Engineering Abubakar Momoh had already traveled to the state capital.
