The Senate of the Lagos State University (LASU) has called off its industrial action, following a meeting between the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, last Thursday. In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, the JAC approved the resumption of academic and social activities in the University with effect from Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The Senate, after considering updates from the Vice-Chancellor on the meeting, resolved that all academic and social activities should resume across the University on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Students are expected to move into their hostels on all University campuses in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe from the same day. Additionally, the 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, previously suspended, will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025.

“Students are advised to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations,” the statement added. This decision comes after the institution’s Senate had suspended all academic and social activities following the declaration of industrial action by the JAC of Staff Unions on July 31, 2025.
