Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has made her way to the National Assembly complex, signaling her intent to return to legislative duties.
Security at the premises had been noticeably tightened in anticipation of her comeback, a move that drew attention as supporters of the senator gathered at the gates to welcome her.
Over the weekend, Natasha had publicly declared her decision to resume work on Tuesday, July 22, referencing a recent ruling by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja as the legal basis for her decision.
However, a contrasting viewpoint was presented on Sunday by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who leads the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs. He challenged the interpretation of the court ruling, stating that it was merely an “advisory opinion” and not a binding order on the Senate.
Despite the pushback, the Kogi Central senator stood firm in her decision to reclaim her seat.
Earlier Tuesday, a widely circulated video online revealed an increased deployment of security personnel, including armed officers, positioned at the National Assembly entrance apparently as a precaution to maintain peace during her return.
