BREAKING: Nigeria in Darkness as National Grid Collapses

For the first time this year, Nigeria’s national grid collapsed on Saturday, throwing large swaths of the country into darkness.

Data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) indicates that the breakdown happened at 1:56 p.m.

The grid saw roughly 12 consecutive collapses in 2024, which is consistent with the instability pattern that this incident follows.
As of the report’s submission, the government authority has not yet revealed the reason behind the most recent failure.

Nonetheless, the reporter in Abuja confirmed that the Federal Capital Territory, have electricity.

Remember that in 2024 alone, the National Grid experienced at least twelve collapses.
