The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has reported the case of a missing female backing a university student to the police. Dorcas Oseghale, a student in the Department of Chemistry with Matric number CHM/2021/165, was last seen on August 6, 2025, at about 8 pm.
According to the university’s public relations officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, Oseghale had gone out to buy food in front of the students’ village but failed to return on time. Her roommate reported her missing after several failed attempts to reach her on the phone.
The university’s Security Unit began tracking discussions on a students’ social media platform after receiving the report and later detailed three personnel to lead the students in the search. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, commended the students for their proactiveness in reporting the missing student and appealed to the police and other security agencies to help find Oseghale.
Bamire also called on anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station or the university’s security unit. “We appeal to the police and other security agencies to do all within their power to help find the missing student,” he said.
The university is working closely with the police to locate Oseghale and ensure her safe return.
