According to the Edo State Police Command, a 32-year-old lady named Janet Dominic was taken into custody in the state for possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to ZINGTIE, Moses Yamu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed this information in a statement provided to reporters in Benin City on Tuesday. Yamu claimed that the arrest occurred during the mop-up of weapons.
Yamu stated that during a raid at the Iguezemwahu hamlet, located along Benin-Auchi Road in the State’s Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, on April 10, 2025, the culprit was taken into custody by the Command’s X-Squad.
According to him, the aforementioned woman was taken into custody during the raid, but a Dominic—whose last name is unknown—left the area when he saw the police.
Two single-barrel firearms, three handguns, seven live cartridges, one knife, one trigger part, and one Beretta magazine were among the weapons and ammunition found on the suspect, according to the Command spokesman.
The weapons and ammo were hidden inside a motorcycle’s seat, he added.
According to Yamu, the investigation to apprehend the fugitive suspect is still ongoing.
He went on to say that the accomplishment was a result of Monday Agbonika, the State’s Commissioner of Police, having a resolute goal of purging the state of criminal activity.
