Protesting hundreds of young people holding placards with various inscriptions, the ancient city of Kano was closed off.

Beginning in neighbourhoods like Gama, Tudun Wada, Tudun Murtala, and others of a similar nature, protesters took to the streets. They emerged in large numbers, their bodies daubed in various colours.

Teenage boys were spotted carrying dangerous weapons in various places like Hotoro, Maiduguri Road, and Ahmadu Bello Way. Some of them were also yelling, “We need urgent actions from government.”

In key sites, there was a noticeable presence of armed police officers together with DSS and NSCDC personnel. Police quickly intervened to seize the youths’ guns who were protesting on Ahmadu Bello Way.
