Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale has declared his intention to step away from his official responsibilities for an indeterminate period of time.

This was disclosed in a memo that was delivered on Friday to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, by the Chief of Staff.

Ngelale stated that his choice was primarily motivated by urgent medical concerns impacting his immediate family.

“This agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days, as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” Ngelale explained.

Ngelale’s various responsibilities within the administration will be impacted by the leave of absence.

Ngelale will temporarily resign from his roles as Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action in addition to his role as Presidential Spokesperson.

“While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days,” Ngelale said.
