Adamu Garba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lambasted US President Donald Trump for threatening BRIC countries.

He claims that Trump’s opposition to the proposed BRICS currency is a waste of effort.

Recall that the US President earlier threatened to impose 100 percent tariffs on BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—if they created an alternative to the US dollar.

On Thursday night, he reiterated his position.

“The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER,”Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.

However, Garba stated that Trump’s decision to slap tariffs on dollar-denominated trade will further isolate the United States.

“President Trump’s tantrums against the BRICS currency is a waste of time. His planned action to impose tariffs for trading against the dollar will further isolate the United States.

“This is not the U.S. of the 1940s; this is 2025. The world has moved far beyond a unipolar society,”Garba posted on X.
