A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has called on Nigerians to back the United States in its position regarding the alleged genocide in the country, arguing that Washington’s actions are directed at both armed and economic terrorists operating within Nigeria.

In a statement posted on X on Sunday, Garba explained that the U.S. government is focusing on two distinct sets of offenders — those who actively engage in violence and destruction, and those who misuse public funds allocated for national security and development initiatives.

He noted that the United States appears to be more concerned with the second category, warning that their corrupt practices have deep implications for the global financial system and could contribute to the expansion of terrorism beyond Nigeria’s borders.

Garba further revealed that the U.S. is monitoring illegal financial transactions, including money routed through the Caribbean and laundered using cryptocurrency platforms, emphasizing that Washington is pushing for meaningful steps to address both forms of terrorism.

He assured that Nigerians unconnected to these groups have no reason to worry, urging citizens instead to support any international moves designed to eradicate both violent and economic terrorism from the country.

He wrote: “People don’t understand that the U.S. is approaching the genocide issue against two profiled and equal culprits:

“The terrorist who carries out the killings and destruction all over the country.
“The politico-economic terrorist who steals money meant for the fight against the terrorist and other preventive social programs for their personal gain.

“In fact, they’re more interested in the latter, than the former, because the later has more damaging consequences to the global economic arrangement and is capable of exporting terror to other places on earth.

“They know everything that is happening in Nigeria, all the monies that are being moved to other places in the Caribbean and those monies washed into crypto wallets are being trailed and tracked.

“Their interest, as some of you wrongly assume is not to negotiate with any government officials, but to see genuine action against the two terrorists mentioned above.

“Failure to do so could result in rapid action against these two terrorists.

“If you are not part of the two terrorist groups of legitimate targets, then you should have nothing to worry about.

“In fact, you should actively encourage any action that should accelerate the cleansing of both the guns and the economic terrorists that have dominated our country for the past 16 years.”
