Burna Boy, a well-known afrobeat singer, has advised his followers not to join him in the current national hunger strike.
According to the ZINGTIE, young people in Nigeria began a 10-day nationwide protest against economic hardship on Thursday, August 1.
Some of his admirers used social media to urge celebrities to join the protest after the continuing protests.
Speaking to his followers on his X handle, Burna Boy expressed his fear that he should not be coerced into participating in protests, citing the death of his first love during the EndSARS demonstration on October 20, 2020.
While quoting a post from October 2020, he wrote; “The fight in me died on this day. Ogun go doggy anybody wey call my name this time around. Even Jesus was crucified.”
The 2020 protest tweet showed the moment when demonstrators said no to having his music played while they were holding their rally.
According to ZINGTIE, singer Spyro had previously demanded a national entertainment pause and charged other celebrities to use their page as a platform to lend their voice.
