The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its members to disregard a recent meeting between the Taminu Turaki-led faction and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, issued a statement on Wednesday, stating that the meeting had not been authorized by the party.

He emphasized that the PDP has not engaged in any formal or informal discussions with the ADC or its representatives.

Mohammed further stated that those who participated in the meeting did so in their personal capacities and cannot be regarded as representing the PDP.

He urged party members and the public to ignore the claims, describing them as baseless and not representative of the party’s stance.

He also mentioned that preparations for the PDP’s primaries were progressing smoothly, with timelines and guidelines to be communicated in due course.

“The party remains focused on its internal processes and its commitment to credible leadership for Nigerians,” he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Turaki-led faction had visited the David Mark-led ADC, describing the engagement as a solidarity visit in preparation for the 2027 elections.

The meeting, which lasted about two hours between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., focused on national issues and potential inter-party cooperation.

Prominent figures present included former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, former Niger Governor Babangida Aliyu, members of the PDP National Working Committee, and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Also attending were former governors Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi.

ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, and other senior political figures also took part in the discussions.
