Ahead of the state’s by-election, security personnel in Ogun State have detained a number of individuals suspected of being INEC officials with substantial financial resources.
Along with a politician accused of planning to buy votes during the election, the suspected INEC officials were taken into custody.
According to a video footage shared on social media on Saturday, the politician and the INEC officials who were shown being questioned were apprehended at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The purported PDP officers and two INEC officials were seen squatting and being questioned by an unnamed security guard in the footage, which is currently going viral.
According to the interrogator, intelligence data showed that party leaders had previously approached INEC officials and offered them a sizable payment in exchange for allegedly buying votes during the by-election.
