Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title holders, Remo Stars, are set to face US Zilimadjou from Comoros in the opening preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The fixture was confirmed during the draw ceremony held on Saturday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Remo Stars will play the first leg on home soil in Ikenne this September.
Whichever team advances will go on to challenge South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns, in the second preliminary round.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s second entrant in the competition, Rivers United, will square off against the yet-to-be-announced champions from the Democratic Republic of Congo in their opening fixture.
The victor in that tie will move forward to play either AC Leopards of Congo or Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the next round.
