Jamie Redknapp, a former star of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, has taken aim at Arsenal after their 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
In their home crowd at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, Arsenal was unable to defeat Newcastle.
Bukayo Saka, one of Mikel Arteta’s greatest players, missed the match against Newcastle because of injury.
Newcastle defeated the Gunners thanks to two goals from Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.
Redknapp stated on Sky Sports that without Saka, Arsenal is “toothless.”
“No shots on target for Arsenal in the second half,” Redknapp said.
“It shows you without Saka they are toothless.
“No pace in the team; they missed him so badly, didn’t have enough quality and didn’t look like they would ever get anything.”
In February, the Magpies will host Arsenal at St. James’ Park for the rematch.
Due to his ongoing recuperation from a leg ailment, Saka, who missed the first leg, is also anticipated to miss the second game.
The injury was sustained by the England international during Arsenal’s victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League last year.
