Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has stated that his team will aim to restore some pride when they face Congo in their final group match at the 2024 African Nations Championship.

The team has already exited the tournament following back-to-back defeats in their first two matches — a narrow 1-0 loss to Senegal, followed by a heavy 4-0 defeat to Sudan.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming clash, Chelle, who hails from Mali, admitted that his squad made several costly errors in their earlier outings. However, he emphasized the importance of finishing the competition on a positive note.

“We made a lot of mistakes in the previous games, and the tournament is done, but we need to go back with something,” he said during a press conference.

The match against Congo is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with kick-off set for 6 p.m. Nigerian time.
