The murdering of military officials is a greater evil than the mass kidnapping of children, according to controversial Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Gumi made the claim, as seen in a video that was shared on the platform’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

He insisted that abduction is a lesser evil than killing, although characterizing all of the bandits’ actions that are wreaking disorder throughout the nation as bad.

“Kidnapping children is lesser evil than killing of soldiers. They are all evil but killing is worse than abduction. Like what happened in Kebbi, the abducted schoolgirls were released,” the Islamic scholar said.

In contrast to allegations that he has ties to the troublemakers, Gumi stated that he has never met the bandits by himself, emphasizing that the last time he did so was in 2021.

Gumi stated that he prays for the students who were kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State.
