A Nigerian lady shared an emotional chapter of her life on social media after leaving her marriage almost two years ago.

She explained in a video how the union was formally dissolved barely seven years after it was formed.

In a TikTok video, the lady, identified as @ miss.ijay, said that the marriage ended after her bridal price was returned to her former husband’s family.

She posted her story alongside a vintage video shot on the same day the repayment occurred, signaling the end of the married relationship.

According to her, the incident began nicely but turned dramatic when her former spouse realized what was going on.

During the dissolution process, he reportedly became overcome with emotion and burst into tears.

The formal return of the bride price, a crucial ceremonial step, signaled that she was leaving permanently.

Despite her dramatic show, she insisted that the choice had already been made long before that day.

She stated that the moment was not one of doubt, but rather of assurance that the chapter had concluded.

In her words: “My bride price was paid in December 2016. My bride price was returned in December 2023. This video was made on my bride price return day. My “husband” couldn’t stop crying. That was when it actually dawned on him that I was really walking out of the marriage.”
