Kenyon College has received a significant $25 million donation from financial technology entrepreneur Matthew Voorhees. The contribution will support a new initiative aimed at connecting interdisciplinary learning with practical experiences to prepare graduates for leadership roles.
The initiative builds on Kenyon’s historical emphasis on cross-disciplinary learning and community engagement, providing infrastructure for students to integrate these experiences into their academic journey. Voorhees’ donation is the lead gift for the Third Century Founders campaign, which seeks to raise $100 million for the college’s endowment within two years
Voorhees, co-founder of Anybill Financial and a Kenyon alumnus, said, “As an English major who went on to found a financial services software company, I know well that a Kenyon education prepares you to lead and innovate in any field. I am excited that Kenyon is working to codify these connections for today’s students.”
The campaign has already secured $40 million from Voorhees and other donors. Kenyon College is committed to offering a range of opportunities for students to explore multiple disciplines, meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need and considering all applicants for merit scholarships. Its graduates have achieved notable success, with strong representation in prestigious programmes like Fulbright Fellowships and STEM doctorates.
