There was a controversy at the Anambra State ward congress to choose representatives for the All Progressives Congress primary election on April 5.

The practice started on Saturday, but it was delayed, which led to the issue.

Meanwhile, the eight members of the Mohammed Abubakar-led party’s Congress Committee have reportedly gone into hiding and are nowhere to be seen.

This is the outcome of complaints from a number of party candidates who claimed that the actions were taken to support a specific politician.

All seven of the candidates for governor who were approved by the APC’s National Secretariat in Abuja last week are already experiencing growing uneasiness in their camps as a result of the delay in announcing the results of the Congress election by delegates from all 326 Anambra wards.

The majority of party stakeholders are expressing dissatisfaction over the Committee members’ failure to disclose the Congress results 24 hours after it was held in each of the state’s 21 local government districts.

Among the governorship hopefuls who vied to be elected by 1,630 delegates throughout the 326 wards during the Ward Congress of the party include Sir. Paul Chukwuma, Prof. Obiora Francis Okonkwo, Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu, Hon. Chukwuma Michael Umeoji, Chief Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, Johnbosco Obinna Onunkwo and Chief Esozie Madu respectively.

Augustine Agada, Ba’ande Imam, Egogbamu Okoro, and Chairman Muhammad Abubakar comprise the committee.

The party’s national secretary, Mr. Emma Eneukwu, Umar Augie, Dr. Chibuzor Nduaguba, and Mr. Babangida Abdullahi are among the other committee members.

According to information obtained as of Saturday night, Sir Paul Chukwuma, a leading candidate for governor, is engaged in a bitter struggle for the support of the delegates in order to become the party’s flag bearer before to the APC gubernatorial primary scheduled for April 5, 2025.

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, a renowned academic and well-liked billionaire leader of the party, are both running to challenge Sir Paul Chukwuma.
