Bosque School, a private college-preparatory school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has received a significant gift of $3.5 million from Ron Corio through the Corio Foundation. The donation will establish the Corio Scholarship Programme, which will provide $500,000 in tuition aid each year to students in need of financial assistance.

The scholarship programme will offer tuition aid of up to and including full tuition, which is over $27,000 annually. The school, established in 1994, focuses on environmental science, the arts, and service learning across its curriculum. Given that New Mexico ranks last in the US for K-12 reading and math as well as overall child well-being, the school aims to make quality education more accessible.
To achieve this goal, Bosque School plans to ensure that 50% of its nearly 400 students are from families that cannot afford tuition without assistance. This is twice the national average for private schools. The partnership with the Corio Foundation will enable the school to increase its scholarship awards annually, reaching more students from under-resourced families.
Ron Corio, New Mexico’s first billionaire and founder of Array Technologies, expressed his hopes for the programme, saying, “We look forward to seeing many future Corio Scholars prosper in their further education and careers as a result of this educational experience. Our hope is for underprivileged students to be fundamentally equipped to successfully pursue a fulfilled and meaningful life.
