The Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area in Benue State, Hon. Joseph Keffi, has shown strong appreciation after the deployment of more than 500 military personnel and security operatives to various hotspots across the area, as part of a broader effort to tackle persistent security challenges both locally and throughout the state.

The security forces have been positioned in key locations such as Mbalagh, Agan, and other affected regions within the LGA, which have endured repeated attacks linked to armed herdsmen.

These violent incidents have forced many residents to flee, disrupted agricultural activities, and endangered the well-being of entire communities.

Details of the development were shared in a statement issued by Teran Nathaniel, media aide to the local government chairman.

According to the release, Hon. Keffi expressed sincere thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia for their decisive actions in responding to the growing insecurity.

“The deployment of over 500 troops is a critical step toward restoring peace and protecting our people.

“These brave security personnel will help ensure that farming activities resume safely in Mbalagh, Agan, and other affected communities.”

In a gesture of support for the deployed forces, Hon. Keffi has personally provided basic supplies such as food items, mosquito nets, and mattresses to improve their comfort and readiness while on duty in the area.

“These troops are here for our people, and it is our duty to make them feel supported.

“Providing them with basic necessities is the least we can do to show our appreciation for their service.”

The chairman also called on residents to maintain order, obey the law, and work closely with the security personnel, stressing that strong community cooperation is essential for overcoming threats and achieving long-term stability.
