Each small business owner received N100,000, while the medium-scale entrepreneurs were given N250,000 to support their businesses. According to the outgoing chairman, Mojeed Balogun, the grant is part of the empowerment initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth in the area.
“We worked with the little allocation we received from the federal allocation. And we never borrowed a dime to complete all these projects. Up to this very time, we have incurred zero loans. We worked very hard to achieve this progress,” Balogun said.
The LG also showcased various developmental projects executed under Balogun’s leadership, including the donation of 500 minibuses to beneficiaries across the council. Other notable projects include the unveiling of a new administrative block and the rehabilitation of roads in Ikeja.
Balogun noted that the empowerment program was initiated in line with President Bola Tinubu’s call for support towards the Renewed Hope Agenda. “It is an idea conceived and an idea accomplished. I had the plan to put in place structures that would stand the test of time. I conceived it. I’m happy it has been accomplished,” he added.
The event highlights the LG’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized businesses and promoting economic growth in the community
