Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has postponed further hearings in the case involving music executive and former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee, until September 26, 2025.

ThankGod and his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, are currently being prosecuted on a seven-count amended charge filed by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The case centers on accusations of engaging in unauthorized foreign exchange transactions and laundering hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The matter was initially brought before Justice Owoeye but was subsequently reassigned to Justice Aneke for continuation.

One of the allegations claims that ThankGod, who is not a licensed foreign exchange dealer recognized by the Central Bank of Nigeria, conducted a foreign currency transaction with another party, thereby breaching the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act.

During Friday’s session, the EFCC, represented by lead prosecutor Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, introduced its first witness, Mohammed Timta.

Meanwhile, defence lawyer Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, informed the court that both sides were in the final stages of negotiating a possible settlement. He requested more time to conclude the discussions, noting that if the talks fail, the prosecution is prepared to proceed with a full trial.

In response, Justice Aneke accepted the request and scheduled the next hearing for September 26, 2025.
