The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over four individuals, along with a shipment of vandalised high-voltage electrical conductors valued at ₦5.3 million, to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano.

According to Area Controller Dalhatu Abubakar, the suspects were apprehended on September 11 during a routine patrol by customs officers.

The confiscated items include 13 bundles of 155-millimetre aluminium electric conductors, spanning a total of 1,771 metres. Also seized were 73 bundles of firewood used to disguise the cables, a box-body vehicle, a pair of cutting pliers, vehicle registration documents, and ₦250,000 in cash.

Abubakar emphasized that the transfer of the suspects and materials reflects the value of collaboration between security agencies in protecting vital infrastructure nationwide.

“This singular act of criminality has denied the affected communities water supply and electricity and hospitals, causing health complications, serious injuries and even deaths.

“We will pursue this case professionally and ensure those involved are brought to justice,” he said.

He added that NCS and NSCDC are working together to curb economic sabotage and protect public assets.
