The retail cost of Premium Motor Spirit has risen at MRS filling stations supported by Dangote Refinery.
ZINGTIE has learned that the retail price at MRS filling stations in Abuja has risen to N875 per liter from the previous price of N839 per liter.
On Friday, a manager at the MRS filling station in Abuja, who wished to remain unnamed, verified the increase to ZINGTIE.
The filling station, which is owned by Sayyu Idris Dantata (who is Aliko Dangote’s half-brother), increased its petrol price by N36 per liter.
This implies that the reduction of petrol gantry price at Dangote Refinery by N25 per liter (from N799 to N744) had no effect on retail fuel prices.
The most recent rise in retail fuel prices at MRS Filling Station eliminated the price difference between this fuel outlet and other filling stations, including Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
The retail fuel price in Abuja and its surroundings now ranges from N875 to N889 per liter as of Friday night.
The refinery, which has recently achieved full capacity and operates at a rate of 650,000 barrels per day, announced three days ago that it was reducing its petrol gantry price in order to compete with imported fuel.
