The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has met with marketers and tanker drivers to discuss its upcoming direct fuel distribution scheme, which is set to commence on August 15, 2025. The refinery’s plan had raised concerns among stakeholders, who feared that it might put them out of business.

However, following the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary of the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA), Chinedu Ukadike, said that the refinery has agreed to work with the association through existing distribution channels. “We don’t have issues again,” Ukadike said. “Dangote heeded our plea by agreeing that they will be sending these products to the bulk buyers, who are the suppliers

Ukadike explained that NOGASA members had panicked because they thought Dangote would sell directly to end-users, but the refinery assured them that it would sell to bulk buyers instead. “This is giving us that power as suppliers to continue our jobs,” he said.

The National President of the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Yusuf Othman, confirmed that consultations are still ongoing with stakeholders on the impact of Dangote’s fuel distribution scheme on tanker drivers. Othman stated that NARTO had met with Dangote and planned to meet him again.

Dangote Industries Limited’s Vice President, Oil and Gas, Devakumar Edwin, said the deployment of 4,000 CNG-powered trucks would help reduce logistics costs and make distribution more efficient. “The aim is to support logistics and make distribution more efficient, not to displace any existing players in the sector,” Edwin stated.
