The family of the late Aminu Dantata has disclosed that challenges in obtaining approval from Saudi officials have delayed his burial arrangements.
According to Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, who served as secretary to the deceased, the delay is due to the Saudi offices being closed over the weekend, making it hard to finalize required documentation.
Although Islamic tradition calls for the deceased to be buried promptly, Junaidu explained they are making every effort to fulfill Dantata’s wish to be buried in Madina.
“We are working diligently to ensure his wishes are met but the authorities in Saudi do not work during the weekends so we are finding it difficult to conclude the necessary paperwork. The presidency is also assisting us in our efforts so hopefully, we will get things done.”
He noted that if the delay continues, the family may have to transport his body back to Kano to carry out the burial there.
Dantata passed away on Friday night in Abu Dhabi, and a funeral prayer in absentia was already held in Kano on Saturday afternoon.
