Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has honoured the memory of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, referring to his death as the close of a significant chapter in Nigeria’s history and the loss of a remarkable figure in the nation’s ethical and business landscape.
In a post shared on his verified X account on Saturday, Atiku praised the late Dantata as a foundational figure in commerce, philanthropy, and civic virtue. He noted that Dantata’s life reflected a deep commitment to selfless giving, integrity in leadership, and unwavering service to societal advancement.
Atiku said, “Alhaji Dantata was not only a business icon, but he was a conscience of his generation.
Dantata’s name was etched in the fabric of our nation, and through quiet philanthropy, principled leadership and an unwavering commitment to uplifting society.”
He also recounted how Dantata’s modesty stood in contrast to his immense fortune, highlighting his wise counsel in both public and private affairs. Atiku described him as a moral guide whose influence extended beyond Kano to the entire country.
“As we bid farewell to this titan of integrity and compassion,” Atiku continued, “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the Kano Emirate Council, and the people of Nigeria.” He concluded by praying for the late philanthropist, saying, “May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, multiply his rewards, and grant him eternal repose in Aljannatul Firdaus.”
