Singer Davido has responded to claims made by his colleague Spyro that he was defrauded by his accomplice Ubi Franklin using his name.
In a recent interview, Spyro said that Franklin had tricked him into singing at a birthday celebration in Ghana by pretending that Davido had asked him to.
Franklin agreed to pay him $5,000 for the performance, but he refused to pay him after the event, he said.
In response to Spyro’s accusations, Franklin stated that he refused to give the artist the money since the singer owed him money as well.
According to the music executive, Spyro owed him 10% for helping him finance his most recent car purchase.
He emphasized that the artist still owes him N2 million and claimed that he withheld the $5,000 from his cash from the car purchase.
Davido was likewise the target of conflicting responses to the accusation and counter-accusation.
In response, Davido only expressed regret for his name’s role in the scandal.
Davido stated, “Please accept my apologies,” after reposting a video of Ubi Franklin’s counter-accusation on his Instagram story.
