Nigeria was designated as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’, CPC in good faith, according to Chris Smith, the chairman of the US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Africa.

Smith said this on Sunday during an interview with Laolu Akande on “Inside Sources,” a Channels Television program that ZINGTIE watches.

President Bola Tinubu was accused by the US lawmaker of taking action against terrorists who are destroying property and lives in the nation.

He said that Nigerians deserve better and urged Tinubu’s administration to step up measures to keep the security situation under control.

“My view is that he has to act; I’m not going to say the good, the bad and the ugly (about Tinubu). The CPC designation was done in good faith.

“And do it not for us; do it for your own people. They deserved better than looking the other way as all of this happens,” he said.

Smith also challenged Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to speak the truth and fight evil after he said on a prominent television program that some individuals had truly been killed.
